Over the weekend I had the pleasure of attending the ASID GO PRO: NY Emerging Professionals conference. The event consisted of lectures on mastering the art of presentations, generative space and pro bono work. There were also tours of the historic New York Public Library and the Material ConneXion Library as well as the Walker Zanger, FLOR, Axor, and Teknion showrooms. Here are a few snapshots from the weekend.
Gift bag goodies filled with samples from FLOR, journals, books, and much more. The bags were made out of recycled billboards. How cool is that?
The opening night reception was held at the Axor Design Showroom. There was a classic photo booth on-site. I couldn’t resist taking a few shots with my design BFF.
This life sized horse lamp greets visitors in Material ConneXion lobby. I’ve seen a picture of the horse lamp floating around on Pinterest but it was pretty cool to see it up close and personal. The light actually works!
Material ConneXion is the world’s largest library of sustainable materials for designers. Here are a few samples that caught my eye. The bottom right sample is wallpaper made with sharred pieces of glass, ouch! The bottom left is transparent wood and top right is transparent concrete.
The bottom right material is made from salmon skin.
A beautiful day in NYC. Standing outside waiting to take a tour of the New York Public library
Wow, a card catalog! Now this is old school.
At first glance the ceilings inside the library look bronze but it’s actually plaster.
It was a great trip and an informative conference. I learned a lot and meet some cool peeps. Can’t wait to go back next year.
